Change Gone Come
Tonight I watched a program of PBS that addressed the human toll in an engineering project. There was a heavy focus on the costs and the fact that slave labor was required in order to accomplish the task.
The realization that until the later part of the 20th century nothing massive was ever done with out slave labor. With the only exception being possibly the Taj Mahal. Even with that all the craftsmen that worked on the project had their hands cut off, so that it could not be done again.
Now this leads me to a great understanding of the western world, its toll and effect, its belief in a diametricly opposed set of systems.
And I can hear the voices that will say it's about time and others that will point the finger to call me a sell out.
Nothing will be farther from the truth for any party.
Because the truth will be unacceptable for even the one's that will know what I'll be doing. Pimping the perception.
Understand that in order for this to work I've got to hold fast to my conviction. The strong belief that we are the product of intentional intelligent design, designers or a designer that believes, and quite possibly hopes that one day we may evolve to being "like God". Not young knuckleheads that wanted to know everything all at once. Isn't that the hope of most parents that their children ascend to be like or even greater than themselves? Isn't one of the greatest sorrows, when a parent survives their own children. Wasn't that what they told us in the sevenities? That we were the first generation in American history that would not have the opportunity to enjoy a better lifestyle than our parents and have we not experienced this? Can we agree that we are victims of our own extended adolescence? Not in the Peter Pan sort of youth, but in the way that we hoped that the powers that be would correct things for us and lead us out of our collective disgruntled winter into the spring of continuing prosperity, while still claiming the right to ignore thier true wisdom. Wisdom that had nothing to do with the lives of great excess that they enjoyed and gave us the belief that it is also our God given right?
Now I don't believe that some great ghost is going to come down from the skies and rescue us from the damage that we are doing to ourselves and our planet. In fact I don't believe that we are all going to be swept up in beams of light, reassembled and carted off to "a better place". I do believe that there will be a "new heaven and a new earth", but it will only accomodate the people who elect to work on it passionately, from the day that they are made aware of the project. And it will be composed of all the things we presently hold dear and precious and are selfishly willing to kill or allow others to be killed and enslaved that we may have. Not unlike the Hebrews that walked circles in dessert the span of something like the distance between Detroit and Ann Arbor, forty years long enough for an entire generation to die and be replaced. Many of us may not make it into that space and because of that may not be, in the words of Marving Gaye, "willing to try to save a world, that is destined to die".
Here's what I'm getting at, I'm not willing to work hard to maintain the status quo. However, I am not only willing, but am making an effort to express my desire to be a part of the creation of something worth living and dieing for. Things that can and should be able to rid the world of abject poverty, wars over strategic territories, mating rites and material rarities.
I believe that many of the solutions to these conditions have been with us a while, but personal greed and fear has been more powerful than all the world's hope. I also believe that I am not alone and that there are many with the fame, resources and courage to lead people to make massive leaps in reaching that goal.
I believe that I have been gifted talents, understandings and information that can make markable contributions to the collective effort to improve life on earth, and at this point I need to put on the uniform, learn the lingo and pimp the pimps.
Don't let me forget why and who I'm doing this for ya'll!

- The costs of labor is always greater than the costs of the design.
- Labor is not equal to design
- You cannot provide with in and for one's own community, a quality mass produced product at an affordable price, employ a mass number and pay labor a fair wage. Even if executives and management worked for the same amount of money. It's not mathematicly feasible.
- The working, middle and poor rarely ever believe in anything, to the degree that it can collectively labor to create anything that will be concidered great.
- The USA being for the greater part blue collar, has little respect for the arts and humanities' ability to design anything. It's all just a job. And regardless of the final outcome of the product. It's just a paycheck during the process. Pride comes after the check clears.
- It is almost manditory that Americans hate their leaders. There are notable exceptions and many will cite them the reason is Americans are closet aristocrats. Still lacking the moxie to be truly rebellious, we choose to elect people that remind us of ourselves. We don't like to look up. But, when we do look up, we look pass our leaders to some noncorporeal being or with an accusing finger. Never realizing the 3 fingers pointed at ourselves.
Yes, I am responsible. That doesn't mean I'm at fault.
With that said, let us turn away from the past and up from the present, forward into the future. Understanding, that should we survive whether we stand still and wait, run headlong, meander or plot a destination, we will arrive in the future. And unless you are rewriting the past and irradicating all witnesses to the truth, there is nothing you can about what has or is happing.
There! it is done.
Poets, preachers and painters need to let go of making their art news reports of current events and use their talents and skills to design a future they'd like someone they love to live in!
With that said.
The days of the ragged beard and dredlochs are soon coming to a close. And I can hear the voices that will say it's about time and others that will point the finger to call me a sell out.
